How to do a Caye Caulker Sunset Cruise (Best Tours)

During my full month of travel in Belize, I had the privilege of joining a very special Cay Caulker sunset cruise. Watching golden the go down over the Caribbean sea while sipping fruity rum punch on a tiki boat with dolphins swimming beside was by far one of my favorite things to do on Caye Caulker, and in Belize as a whole.

If you’re looking for information about the best Caye Caulker sunset tours, this article is for you! I’ll share all about my firsthand experience and the exact cruise I booked, plus things you should know beforehand.

🌺 My Belize Favorites 🏝

🤿 Barrier Reef Snorkeling & Diving: Belize has the best snorkeling I’ve ever experienced! You can book guided snorkel and dive trips from Hopkins, San Pedro, or Caye Caulker. Browse Belize snorkel and dive trips.

🌲 Escape to Mountain Pine Ridge: Climb up in elevation to a cooler (and less visited) area with gorgeous waterfalls, fun swimming holes, Mayan ruins, and so much more! You will need a vehicle with 4WD here, but this day trip from San Ignacio is also an option.

🥾 Cave AdventuresCave tubing is an adventure unique to Belize, and many people come all the way here to experience the ATM Cave, where you can witness human remains and Mayan artifacts.

🚙 Explore the Hummingbird Highway: This breathtaking lush scenic drive connects the Cayo District and the Caribbean coast. Stop along the way at waterfalls, a cenote, a chocolate workshop, caves, and more! My guide to the Hummingbird Highway.

🌴 Where to Stay: A sustainable jungle treehouse beside the beach in Hopkins at Hamanasi, a quiet breezy room at Weezie’s on the vibrant small island of Caye Caulker, or a luxury bungalow overlooking waterfalls at Gaia Riverlodge. My guide on Where to Stay in Belize.

Caye Caulker Sunset Cruise: My Experience

Joining a Caye Caulker sunset cruise was one of the highlights of my month-long adventure in Belize! Along with four other vacationers, my husband and I journeyed along the coast of Caye Caulker’s lush North Island on a fun tiki-themed boat with unlimited rum punch.

As the sun set over the gorgeous blue Caribbean Ocean, our local guide and captain told us stories about growing up on Caye Caulker, and lesser known facts about the island. It was the perfect way to get to know locals and other travelers while taking in the beauty of this magical part of Belize.

Sunset Tiki Bar Cruise in Caye Caulker, Belize

This is the exact Caye Caulker sunset cruise I booked! It’s run by a new locally owned business and the sunset cruises are led by a guide and captain who grew up on Caye Caulker. Unlimited rum punch is included, and the tiki theme is a fun touch, but for me the best part was learning about the island from locals and seeing dolphins swim right beside the boat!

Although this is a group boat tour, there are only a maximum of 6 passengers on the tiki cruise each day, so its quite intimate! I think its great for couples, small groups of friends, and solo travelers who want to meet others.

Sunday Funday and Houseboat Sunset Cruise (For Backpackers)

Hosted by Bella’s Backpacker Hostel, this weekly Sunday Funday experience and sunset tour is one of the best things to do on Caye Caulker for backpackers. Although tour itself isn’t particularly cheap, since its hosted by the island’s top hostel, it attracts young budget travelers looking to socialize and have a great time!

Unlike the other Caye Caulker sunset cruises, this experience only happens on Sunday, and include more than a boat ride. Before cruising the Caribbean on Bella’s houseboat, you’ll spend some time mingling with other backpackers while playing volleyball, beer pong, corn hole, water balloon toss, and other games.

Catamaran Sunset Cruise

Wanderlust Sailing & Snorkeling hosts a daily sunset cruise from Caye Caulker! If you want to be on a bigger boat with room for more passengers, this is the one to book. It’s a more elevated experience compared to the backpacker Sunday Funday cruise, and great for larger groups. Wanderlust’s tour lasts two hours and includes bottomless rum punch and fresh ceviche!
