Mirador Torre Latino
Mirador Torre Latino is the main viewpoint on top of the Torre Latinoamericana (Latin American Tower) in the Centro Historico neighborhood of Mexico City.
The tower has one of the best views in Mexico City, yet it feels a bit under-the-radar. In fact, I never visited the viewpoint until my fifth trip to Mexico City!
Truth be told, the experience of getting to the top of the tower is a little nerve wracking—the elevators are old and bumpy, but the views make it worth it.
The open-air observatory on the 44th floor is just one of several spots where you can gaze out on the Mexico City skyline. Other notable floors include the skydeck on floors 42 and 43, the museum on floor 38, the cafe, shop, and photo spot on floor 37, and the bicentennial museum on floor 36.
Torre Latinoamericana History
Built in 1956, Torre Latinoamericana was the tallest building in Latin America at the time. Remarkably, the skyscraper survived the massive 8.1 magnitude Mexico City earthquake in 1985, and it still standing today.
You can catch a glimpse of the tower in a few movies, including in Spectre, after James Bond hijacks a helicopter and flys away from Mexico City’s Zócalo, and in the opening scenes of Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo + Juliet.

Alternatively, you can just show up and buy a ticket in person. I visited on a weekday and there was no line, so I was able to purchase my ticket and take the elevator up immediately.

Tickets cost $200 pesos for adults and $150 pesos for children.

Things to Know Before Visiting Torre Latino Viewpoint
★ Pay extra to use a camera: Like with many other Mexico City tourist attractions, you will be asked to pay extra if you want to use a camera. Either plan to pay about $30 pesos more than the entry fee, or just take phone photos.
★ Visit on a weekday morning: I found Mirador Torre Latino to be a very peaceful place to look out over the city, but that is partly because I nearly had the place to myself. The majority of people who visit the tower are actually Mexican nationals who are in CDMX for a weekend, so the weekdays are less busy.
★ Watch the sunset: Mirador Torre Latino is also a lovely place to watch the sunset, especially since it is open until 10pm everyday. This makes it a great spot to visit on a date too!
★ Know your limits: If you’re afraid of heights, Mirador Torre Latino might not be the place for you. The elevators are a little rickety and old, and they made me feel a little nervous, though I’ve never had a fear of heights.
