The Best Boutique Hotels in Roma, Mexico City
My goal with this article is to help you narrow down your options to one perfect hotel that works within your budget, and has an excellent location in charming Roma.
Every single hotel on this list is rated over 9.1/10 by past travelers, which is the minimum I look for when booking a hotel anywhere in the world.
You truly cannot go wrong with any of these Roma hotels, it’s just a matter of which one piques your interest most!

1. La Valise
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 9.1/10 on Booking.com | 9.6/10 on Expedia | $400+/night | Check current nightly rates
La Valise is an award-winning hotel in Roma Norte. It’seclectic and luxurious with a blend of vintage charm, Mexican design, and modern elements. It’s my #1 choice for a place to stay in Roma, Mexico City, especially if you’re looking for a luxurious, romantic escape! 🧖🏽♀️
It’s a true boutique hotel with only eight suites, each of are completely different. The suites are appointed with striking art pieces, ‘bespoke furnishings’, and luxurious amenities like a rolling bed that can be moved outside onto your private balcony for stargazing and sunbathing alike.
Though each suite is completely unique, they all feature stunning clawfoot bathtubs, incredibly comfortable beds, air conditioning, and a kitchenette or kitchen.
Since there are only a few suites available at La Valise, you’ll want to make a reservation ASAP to secure your room.
🌿 Nearby: Michelin-star bakery Panadería Rosetta, charming Río de Janeiro Plaza, MODO Museum, and Madre Café.
Looking for a more budget-friendly Roma hotel? Don’t worry, I’ll get to my favorites soon!!

2. NaNa Vida
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 9.4/10 on Booking.com | 9.8/10 on Expedia | $192+/night | Check current nightly rates
With 9.4/10 stars from over 400 verified customers, NaNa Vida is one of the highest rated hotels in Roma. I think it’s a great option for travelers with a mid-range budget who want a clean, thoughtfully-designed hotel with excellent customer service and a great location.
Each room unique and light-filled, with beautiful local art, comfortable beds, and air conditioning. The rooms do not have kitchenettes, so you’ll have to plan on eating out for all your meals—which isn’t a problem with all the delicious, affordable food in Mexico City!
One of the best parts of staying at NaNa Vida is that you get access to the hotel’s private rooftop area, with a stunning view of the Mexico City skyline! 🌆
🌿 Nearby: Greenery-filled Plaza Luis Cabrera, vegan restaurant with pink tacos La Pitahaya Vegana, ESCÁNDALO taco and mezcal stand, vintage shops.

3. Tanat Art Boutique Hotel
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 9.1/10 on Booking.com | 9.6/10 on Expedia | $80+/night | Check current nightly rates
Tanat is by far the best budget-friendly hotel in Roma, with a focus on art and an excellent location. Parque México (my favorite place in Mexico City) is just a few blocks away, and the hotel is also close to many of the most popular restaurants in Roma and Condesa!
It’s a newer property with clean, modern rooms adorned with vibrant green house plants and Mexican artwork. Many of the rooms feature balconies, and some have kitchens if you need to a little cooking!
The hotel is also home to a gallery with pieces by Mexican artists from all around the country!
🌿 Nearby: Mexico City’s most lively park Parque México, famous vegan street tacos at Por Siempre Vegana, Medellín Market, my favorite Mexico City pizza at DoppioZero Pizza Romana, lots of other coffeeshops and restaurants.

4. Colima 71
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 9.7/10 on Booking.com | 10/10 on Expedia | $500+/night | Check current nightly rates
Colima 71 is another excellent Roma hotel with one Michelin key and several awards from Conde Nast and Travel + Leisure. It’s also well-loved by everyday travelers, who rate it a whopping 9.7/10 on Booking.com—it’s very rare to see a rating so high!
As you’ve probably noticed, many of Roma’s boutique hotels appeal to art lovers, and Colima 71 is no exception. The building itself quite special because it was designed by renowned Mexican architect, Alberto Kalach. The 16 rooms each feature highlight modern Mexican craftsmanship with earth-toned Oaxacan ceramics and custom wood furnishing.
The hotel features a serene outdoor courtyard, a library, a coffee bar,a cocktail bar, and even a ‘street food concierge‘ that points you in the direction of some of Roma’s most delicious street food (that meets your dietary restrictions, of course!)
Colima 71’s complimentary breakfast is exceptional, with pastries from Roma’s famous Rosetta Bakery (ranked amongst the world’s top 50 restaurants), plus savory indulgences like avocado toast and tamales, fresh fruit, and coffee or tea. You can even enjoy breakfast in bed because it’s delivered to your room, or served in the courtyard.

6. Maison Celeste

This restored 1900s mansion perfectly marries Roma’s romantic Parisian heritage with the neighborhood’s recent resurgence as the artistic heart of Mexico City.
The 16,000 square-foot building houses a rotating selection of art galleries and boutiques, along with five guest rooms. Each suite features a unique design that highlights the house’s historic features alongside bold colors and modern furnishings.
Maison Celeste is undeniably one of the best boutique hotels in Roma, and its a slightly more affordable but still luxurious compared to some of the other hotels on this list. The house also features a family suite with two bedrooms if you’re traveling with a group (or family!)
🌿 Nearby: Modern food market at Mercado Roma, excellent cocktails and tacos at Páramo, La Roma Brewing, various restaurants and cafes.

7. Casa Olivia
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 9.2/10 on Booking.com | 9.6/10 on Expedia | $100+/night | Check current nightly rates
These cute affordable one and two bedroom apartments are located on a charming residential street in Roma Norte, lined with green trees and pastel-painted historic buildings. Although it’s a little off the tourist trail, Casa Olivia is still only a few blocks away from some of best restaurants in Mexico City, while being tucked away in a more local area.
Most of the apartments feature full kitchens, which makes Casa Olivia a great choice for folks staying in Mexico City for longer (or trying to save on food), plus some units feature serene terraces. Although they’re apartments, the buildings still features a 24-hour front desk and security, so it feels more secure than an Airbnb.
All in all, Casa Olivia is a lovely place to stay if you’re on a budget and want more space to yourself while still being very close to all that Roma has to offer!
🌿 Nearby: Residential area with a blend of historic and modern buildings. Restaurants and other businesses are a few blocks away.
