Virgin Voyages Sailor Loot

Sailor loot is Virgin Voyages credit that you can use for almost any on board purchase, plus shore excursions and purchases made at the Bimini Beach Club.

Similar to Virgin Voyages’ bar tab, sailor loot is tied to your account but can be shared amongst couples, families, or friends.

There are so many ways to use sailor loot on Virgin Voyages! Anything you want to purchase on board will deduct from your sailor loot, as long as you have it properly set up in your Virgin Voyages app.

On my first Virgin Voyages cruise I didn’t realize sailor loot wasn’t automatically connected to all sailors in a certain party. Our sailor loot was on my account, but not my husbands, so when he went to get us some drinks while I was soaking in the hot tub, his card was charged.

Thankfully, it was an easy fix. All we had to do was go to Sailor Services to get our sailor loot to be shared between the two of us, and our previous purchases charged to the sailor loot instead of our card.

Drinks are on the beginning of how you can use sailor loot, though! Here are some of the many ways to use sailor loot credit on your Virgin cruise!

13 Ways to Use Sailor Loot

1. Shore Things (Excursions)

Use your sailor loot to book shore excursions, or Shore Things, as Virgin Voyages calls them. There are usually handful of Shore Things to choose from in each port city, and using your Sailor Loot to go on one of these adventures is a great way to use up extra credit!

2. On Board Events

Sailor loot can also be used to book on board events like the popular grog walk, paint and sip, and more. While I never joined one of these paid on board events during my Valiant Lady sailing, I’ve heard they are a great way to meet other sailors quickly!

3. Redemption Spa Thermal Suite Pass

My favorite way to use sailor loot is the thermal suite day pass at Redemption Spa! In fact, my husband and I purchased passes on two different days on our first suite because we loved it so much.

The thermal suite is the most serene place on board, especially if you like saunas (like me) and cold plunges (like my husband). You’ll rotate between the steam room, dry sauna, Himalayan salt room, mud room, hot tub, cold plunge tubs, and other pools here.

Check out my Thermal Suite Pass article for more details about this wonderful experience that can be booked with sailor loot.

You can also use sailor loot to get your nails done at Virgin Voyages’ ‘The Tune Up’ mani and pedi spa. Although I haven’t experienced it myself, apparently, you can also get botox, fillers, and IV therapy here too!

5. Haircuts and Styling

The Dry Dock, Virgin Voyages’ beauty salon, also accepts sailor loot for payment. Here you can get a new haircut, or get your hair styled. This would be a fun place to get a makeover if you’re celebrating a special occasion on your Virgin cruise, like an anniversary or birthday.

Meanwhile, men can get a trim at Stubble & Groom, Virgin Voyages’ onboard barber shop. Stubble & Groom also accepts sailor loot!

6. Tattoos and Piercings

Head over to Squid Ink, Virgin Voyages’ onboard tattoo parlor, for a tattoo or a piercing to commemorate your sailing. And yes, both can be paid for with sailor loot credits!

Ship Eats is Virgin Voyages’ room service and meal delivery service. But its not just for ordering food to your cabin. You can also a selection of food to wherever you are on the ship via the Virgin Voyages app. While food is included in the cost of your cruise, there is a small fee to use Ship Eats delivery, which can be covered by your sailor loot.

Insider tip: Don’t want to pay the Ship Eats delivery fee? If you order a drink with your food, you won’t have to pay! Of course, you will have to pay for the drink.

9. Drinks

Yes, sailor loot can be used to purchase paid alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks on board. However, its important to note that if you have both sailor loot and a bar tab, your drinks will automatically deduct from your bar tab first, and then deduct from your sailor loot only if your bar tab runs out.

Although you can enjoy a diversity delicious food on your Virgin sailing without paying anything extra, Virgin Voyages does offer a few optional upgrades if you want something fancy.

My husband and I are vegan, and most of the meal upgrades are meat and seafood, so I haven’t tried this one, but it is a great way to use your sailor loot if you want to treat yourself!
